Our military support

As you know, we truly appreciate the military service members and families in Hampton Roads because of ALL they do for our community and country.

For years now we have been proud supporters and sponsors of the Armed Services YMCA in Hampton Roads. This year we are taking our military support a step further by being a top-level sponsor of the 75th Anniversary Bataan Death March Walk/Run being held on Saturday, April 22 at the Dismal Swamp Canal Trail in Chesapeake.

The purpose of this event is to honor and remember those who survived and those who paid the supreme sacrifice at Bataan, as well as all World War II veterans and families.

There will be three WALKS of different distances: 16.6 miles, 5 miles, and 1 mile. These are free to participate in.

There will also be three RUNS of different distances: 16.6 miles, 5 miles, and 1 mile. These have an entry fee.

Many of our staff members are from military families and we see firsthand the sacrifices they endure and the great things they do. Sponsoring the Bataan Anniversary is just one more way to show Gontarek Eye Care’s commitment to honoring and respecting our active duty and retired military, and to say THANK YOU!!!
