How do I recycle my contacts?

Written by our eye doctors in Chesapeake

Simply keep used contacts and blister packs in a recycling receptacle at home. Once it’s full, bring it to Gontarek Eye Care. We will collect all of this waste, package it up and send it to TerraCycle.

What Happens to the Waste?

Once received at TerraCycle, the contact lenses and blister packs are separated by composition and cleaned. The metal layers of the blister packs are recycled separately, while the contact lenses and plastic blister pack components are melted into plastic that can be remolded to make recycled products.

If you have any questions about recycling your contact lenses or to schedule an eye appointment, please contact us at (757) 966-2206 or click here.
