Eye Doctors serving patients in Virginia Beach, Norfolk and Chesapeake
Recycle For Sight program changes lives
By Gontarek Eye Care – 7/22/2019
Many of you have donated your old eye glasses to our Lions Club Recycle for Sight collection box and we thank you for this gesture of kindness.
Our eye care clinic support for this program is now in its 15th year thanks to you.
Every time a patient from Virginia Beach, Norfolk or Chesapeake donates their old eyeglasses – whether frames, lenses, or an entire pair – we are changing another person’s life. You know how miserable it is when you can’t see well. Imagine for a minute if you could not afford a pair of reading or long distance glasses – for a day, a week, a month, or more!
Throughout the year, Lions Club volunteers collect the used eyeglasses from our eye care clinic and deliver them to a regional Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center where volunteers clean, sort by prescription strength,
and package the glasses. Most of the recycled glasses are distributed to people in need in developing countries where they will have the greatest impact.
Through this program our eye doctors, staff and patients are changing lives every day by helping a child read, an adult succeed in his job, a senior maintain her independence, and more.
Whether you donate your old glasses after an appointment or bring in unused eyeglasses laying in a drawer, you are improving a life and we appreciate your help.
If you have some old eyeglasses in draws that you’re not using, please bring them in on your next visit.
