It’s a new year and time to schedule that eye exam you’ve been putting off. It is a common misconception that as long as your vision is good, you don’t need to visit an eye doctor. This is simply not true.
Preventative maintenance is key to preserving eyesight.
And, many health conditions are also first detected by an eye doctor. High blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, and even cancer can be found in the course of a comprehensive eye exam. Early detection is key in maintaining good health and good vision.
January is National Glaucoma Awareness Month. Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that gradually steal sight without warning. Although the most common forms primarily affect the middle-aged and the elderly, glaucoma can affect people of all ages. There is no cure for glaucoma—yet. However, medication or surgery can slow or prevent further vision loss.
